The Good Councillors Guide

This guide introduces the work of town and parish councils and the part councillors play in the first tier of local government closest to the people. It is also a useful reference. It is divided into five parts to help new, or even experienced, councillors.

Terms of Reference

Standing Orders

The Standing Orders in this document are mandatory by law and cannot be amended or suspended. They affect the conduct of full council meetings, committee meetings and sub-committee meetings.

Freedom of Information

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 there is a duty on public authorities generally to provide information to members of the public on request.

Code of Conduct

In accordance with the Localism Act 2011 the Parish Council has approved a new Code of Conduct in order to promote openness and transparency within the Council.
